The Congo River is much more than a waterway. It is a source of life, an exceptional natural heritage, and an essential component of the biodiversity of the Congo Basin. It supports communities through agriculture, fishing, ecosystem conservation, and many other socio-economic activities.
Its disappearance would be an immense loss.
Its wealth is our responsibility.
Its protection is our commitment.
Its future concerns present and future generations.
On this World Rivers Day, ANASA/DRC and CBCS-Network call for stronger protection of the Congo River, greater efforts to combat water pollution, and the promotion of sustainable and equitable management of its resources.
One Congo River. An invaluable treasure. A heritage to protect.
