Exchange with the national Minister for Youth

Posted on 2024-11-09 - Catégorie: Climate Change

Exchange with the national Minister for Youth. Our discussions centred on the collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and civil society, and the Ministry's involvement in setting up an agro-ecological movement to combat climate change among young people in the DRC and protect ecosystems through the National Youth Council. This collaboration between the Ministry and civil society organisations will serve as a framework for integrating young volunteers into the various projects and work placements, to provide them with the experience they are seeking in the job market and in agro-ecological projects. His Excellency reassured the audience that the government would make land available to young people, and that incubation centres would be set up to boost agro-ecological entrepreneurship in the DRC. The need to build the capacities of young people and exchange experience remains important in the context of this collaboration. A protocol defining the areas of collaboration and the Agroecology sheet will be signed by the Minister after Cop 29, when the Minister asked us to come back to finalise this work. This contact was made possible by Josue ARUNA of the Congo Basin Conservation Society CBCS network DRC and Ms Cathy, national president of the environmental civil society socearuco DRC.
