AGROECOLOGY: CASSAVA CUTTINGS PLANTING ACTIVITIES IN KATOGOTA

Posted on 2026-10-23 - Catégorie: Environment

On Tuesday, 20 October 2026, the Cooperative of Livestock Farmers for Integrated Development, known as COOPEDI Katogota, with financial support from the Congo Basin Conservation Society (CBCS-Network), successfully carried out cassava cutting planting activities. This initiative marks another crucial step towards promoting agroecology and strengthening food security among local communities and Indigenous Peoples in the Ruzizi Plain.

Thanks to this valuable support, eight cassava cultivation plots were established, demonstrating the strong commitment of smallholder farmers and local producers to increasing agricultural production and sustainably improving household livelihoods.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to CBCS-Network for its financial support and unwavering commitment to community-based agroecological development. Your support helps strengthen local food sovereignty initiatives and promote sustainable agriculture for the benefit of communities and Indigenous Peoples, while actively supporting the conservation of hippopotamuses and other protected species in the Ruzizi Plain.

Together, let us cultivate the land, strengthen our food security, and build a sustainable future through the conservation of local ecosystems!
