South Kivu: October 31, 2025 — A decisive milestone for the province’s environmental and agroecological future

In Bukavu, a validation workshop of the Provincial Agroecology Strategy was held, bringing together a wide range of actors: representatives of civil society, experts, provincial authorities, technical and financial partners, as well as university professors and researchers.

Workshop Objective

To validate, in a participatory and inclusive manner, the Provincial Agroecology Strategy of South Kivu through the consolidation of recommendations, necessary adjustments, and commitments from all stakeholders for its adoption and effective implementation.

A Strategic Partnership

Supported by the Congo Basin Conservation Society (CBCS-Network) and the Université Évangélique en Afrique (UEA), in collaboration with SOCEARUCO, this initiative aims to reduce the growing pressure on forests and strengthen the resilience of local communities to climate and food security challenges through the agroecological approach.

Agroecology: A Vision for the Future

More than just a production system, agroecology embodies a philosophy grounded in traditional knowledge, respect for natural balance, and food sovereignty.

It offers practical solutions to restore degraded ecosystems, preserve natural resources, and stimulate an inclusive and sustainable local economy.

A Collective Commitment for a Sustainable Future

We commend the active participation and commitment of all stakeholders whose contributions have enriched this provincial strategy.

Together, we affirm that the development of South Kivu depends on integrated agroecology, responsible management of natural resources, and harmonious coexistence with nature.

???? The agroecological transition is underway in South Kivu. The time to act is now!
