Community work for local communities
Posted on 2025-04-01 - Catégorie: EnvironnementThe Congo Basin Conservation Society CBCS-Network continues to work at local level to implement the agro-ecological movement by involving local churches in the east of the DRC, in a context characterised by armed conflict. The members of the indigenous communities are not giving up their efforts to prepare for the major agricultural campaign, which is the foundation of food sovereignty and resilience in the post-conflict period. An 80-year-old father, who is used to eating local produce from local and indigenous seeds, is still active in community work. Agro-ecology in the DRC remains a pillar of forest protection for indigenous peoples and biodiversity conservation, and constitutes a bridge of resilience between the period of emergencies linked to armed conflict in the DRC and the period of sustainable development. Supporting agroecology in the context of conflict in the DRC means saving lives and saving nature in the Congo Basin.
